Moosehead Lake dominates the southwestern corner of this landscape, its waters reaching into the deeply indented Spencer Bay. The topography is defined by the transition from the expansive surface of the bay to the rising elevation of Hardwood Hill in the southeast. A network of timber and access roads, including Spencer Pond Rd and Hardwood Valley Rd, navigates the complex shoreline and interior highlands. To the north, Spencer Pond is fed by the South Inlet, while the Roach River flows eastward from Jewett Cove. Numerous islands such as Togue Island, Salmon Island, and Fox Island dot the bay, providing a detailed record of the shoreline's character. The presence of several smaller water bodies like Lucky Pond and Jewett Pond suggests a glaciated terrain where drainage is often channeled through features like Jewett Brook and Burgess Brook.
