Spirit Mountain and the high desert peaks of Clark County dominate this topographic landscape within the southern reach of the Lake Mead National Rec Area. The terrain is defined by a network of drainage systems including Nellis Wash, Empire Wash, and White Rock Wash, which carve through the arid basin. Evidence of water management and natural hydrology is found at several isolated points, such as Roman Spring, Willow Spring, and Pipe Spring, which have historically served as critical landmarks for desert travel.
