Lake Mohave dominates this landscape along the border of Arizona and Nevada, where the Colorado River waters are contained within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. This 2018 survey reveals a complex shoreline defined by dozens of named inlets, ranging from North Haystack Cove in the north to Cholla Cove in the south. The western bank is shaped by the steep slopes of the Newberry Mountains, while the eastern side gives way to the vast Mojave Desert.
