Juntura and the surrounding high desert terrain are defined by the convergence of water and irrigation infrastructure in a semi-arid landscape. The North Fork Malheur River joins the main Malheur River near the town site, where the Juntura Valley supports agricultural activity facilitated by the Juntura Investment Company Canal and the Townsite Ditch. This network of water management extends across the uplands, marked by numerous named catchments like Adobe Reservoir, Joyce Reservoir, and Stemler Ridge Reservoir.
