Tiltill Mountain and the surrounding high-elevation wilderness of Tuolumne County are defined by a complex network of glacial lakes and granite peaks. The landscape is carved by deep drainages like Jack Main Canyon, where Falls Cr and Tiltill Cr flow toward the lower valleys. This 2012 survey illustrates the high concentration of alpine water bodies, ranging from the large Huckleberry Lake in the north to the cluster of Branigan Lake, Middle Branigan Lake, and Upper Branigan Lake near the center of the sheet.
