Two Buttes Reservoir dominates the southern landscape of this high plains borderland, where the waters of Two Butte Creek are impounded just south of the Prowers and Baca County line. The terrain is defined by the prominent dual heights of Two Buttes, which rise significantly above the surrounding prairie. This area shows a transition from the open grazing lands of the north to the managed water resources of the south, linked by a grid of county roads such as Co Road 10 and Co Road 12. A small historical marker of early settlement is found at Butte Cem, located north of the reservoir. The western edge of the quadrangle is bisected by the prominent north-south corridor of Us-287 N, while the winding course of North Butte Creek carves a path through the central sections of the townships.
