The Allagash Wilderness State Waterway defines this remote stretch of the North Woods, where the waters of Umsaskis Lake and Priestly Lake dominate the landscape. This hydrography is framed by the prominence of Squirrel Mountain and Priestly Mountain.

The presence of several Campsites and a system of Private Roads suggests a landscape managed for both timber harvest and wilderness recreation. The boundary between Aroostook and Piscataquis counties traverses the center of the sheet, cutting through the dense network of Trails and drainages like West Branch Drake Brook.
