Discovery Bay forms the northern anchor of this landscape, where the settlements of Maynard, Discovery Junction, and Uncas sit near the shoreline at the intersection of local routes like W Uncas Rd. Moving south, the terrain rises into the Olympic National Forest, dominated by peaks and ridges such as Big Skidder Hill, Misty Ridge, and the Olympic Mountains. A network of Forest Service roads, including Nat For Dev Rd 2906, provides access to the interior timberlands.

Water systems define the valleys, from the drainage of Salmon Cr and Snow Cr to the southern basin containing Leland Lake and the village of Leland. Historically significant routes, including the Pacific NW National Scenic Trail, traverse the ridges above Cedar Flat.
