Pueblo Mountains dominate this high-desert reach of Harney County, where steep drainages and isolated meadows define the topography. The landscape is carved by numerous seasonal watercourses like Van Horn Cr, Crickett Cr, and Denio Cr, which flow through several significant topographical depressions including Van Horn Basin and Denio Basin. These basins are interspersed with upland grazing areas and landmarks such as Stergen Meadows, Ten Cent Meadows, and Propeller Meadows.
