About this map

Lake Champlain defines the western edge of this landscape, where the state boundary between Vermont and New York cuts through The Narrows and passes Diamond Island. Along the indented Vermont shoreline, numerous sheltered coves like Basin Harbor and Fields Bay provide natural anchorage, a geography that supported the early maritime development of Addison County. Inland, the terrain is shaped by the winding courses of Otter Creek, Little Otter Creek, and the sluggish waters of Dead Creek, which meander through low-lying agricultural lands and wetlands.
