The northern portion of the quadrangle is dominated by the foothills and slopes of the Cedar Mountain Range, where seasonal drainage patterns like Baker Draw and Wamels Draw carve through the arid terrain.

The landscape is characterized by its isolation and the critical importance of water management for local ranching. A network of numbered livestock tanks, including Tank Number 5 N, Tank Number 8 N, and Tank Number 9 S, are scattered across the townships. The only primary transportation artery is Nm-9, which cuts across the central sections, providing a vital link through the borderlands of southern New Mexico.
