Wells and its adjacent coastal reaches are captured here through detailed aerial imagery from the late 1970s. This orthophotoquad provides a clear view of the development patterns along the Maine shoreline, specifically the dense clusters around Moody Point and the stretch of Wells Beach. The relationship between the tidal marshes and the sea is evident as the Webhannet River winds behind the barrier beach before meeting the Atlantic Ocean.

Further south, the community of Ogunquit is defined by the course of the Ogunquit River, while inland, the intersection at Four Corners shows the more rural, forested character of the York County interior. Unlike traditional topographic maps, this imagery-based survey, produced in cooperation with the Soil Conservation Service, allows researchers to see actual land use, vegetation density, and the exact footprints of coastal structures during this period of Maine's maritime history.
