Windom serves as the primary hub of this Western McPherson County landscape, situated at the intersection of S Ave and 1st St. The area's agricultural character is defined by a grid of numbered roads and named avenues, intersected by several north-south drainage systems including Sharps Cr and Lone Tree Cr. Local history is anchored at the Bean Cem along Avenue I, while the Rellim Oil Field indicates the subsurface energy economy that exists alongside traditional farming. In the southwest corner, the Little Arkansas River clips the quadrangle near the Little River Wastewater Facility, marking a transition in the hydrologic basin. The town site itself retains a classic Midwestern layout, centered around a local Po and a network of short residential streets.
