The York Butte landscape is defined by the complex drainage network of the Siskiyou National Forest in southwestern Oregon. This 2014 survey captures a terrain carved by numerous tributaries, most notably the winding Silver Creek which features the Silver Creek Falls. The industrial and exploratory history of the region is signaled by Metz Mine Road in the northeastern reaches, while the southern edge of the map follows the course of the Illinois River. Along the river, named features like Panther Bar and Brushy Bar indicate traditional river access points or geological deposits. Distinctive landforms such as Chinaman Hat, Flat Top, and Pine Flat provide prominent landmarks for navigation across the high ridges. The map also delineates several National Forest Development Roads, such as Nat For Dev Rd 2512, which provide access to interior springs like Mud Springs.
