Aguanga sits at a geographic crossroads where several high-desert valleys converge at the edge of the Cleveland National Forest. This 2018 survey reveals a landscape defined by its deep alluvial basins and prominent summits, most notably Tule Peak and the curiously named Billy Goat Mtn. The terrain is drained by seasonal watercourses like Temecula Cr and Wilson Cr, which carve through the Wilson Valley and Dameron Valley. To the southeast, the settlement of Oak Grove marks a historic transition point into the Oak Grove Valley, situated near the confluence of Chihuahua Cr and the larger Rattlesnake Cr system. The road network reflects recent developments, including the strikingly named Richard Nixon Blvd in the north, contrasting with older rural routes and ranch roads that still follow the natural contours of the Tule Valley and Culp Valley.
