The small settlements of Angora and Perrin define the populated points of this Morrill County landscape. Agricultural water management is the dominant theme of the geography, with a sophisticated network of irrigation infrastructure crossing the terrain. The Lowline Canal, Tri-State Canal, and Northport Canal cut across the plains, supported by several water control structures including Blackburn Dam, Loomis Dam, and West Water Creek Dam. These engineered waterways follow the natural drainages of Red Willow Creek and West Water Creek toward the Platte River valley to the south.
