About this map

The Arkansas River and its accompanying Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad dominate the southern edge of this Fremont County landscape, defining the primary transportation and industrial corridor of the region. Near the settlement of Cotopaxi, the terrain transitions from the river valley into a complex network of high peaks and drainage systems, including Arkansas Mountain and Garell Peak. Numerous resource extraction sites are documented throughout the area, such as a Quarry near the river and several Prospect and Mine labels scattered across the northern ridges.
