The South Virgin Mountains and the elevated expanse of Azure Ridge dominate this corner of the High Desert, marking a sharp transition into the eastern reaches of the Mojave Desert. This topographic survey traces the interstate boundary between Nevada and Arizona, as well as the county line separating Clark and Mohave counties. The landscape is defined by its drainage patterns, with seasonal waterways like Horse Spring Wash and Near Spring Wash carving through the terrain toward the southern lowlands.

In the southeast, the terrain descends into the Grand Wash Valley, where the waters of Lake Mead reach into Grand Wash Bay. This area is protected as part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, where the rugged geography of Million Hills meets the volcanic remnants of the Lava Bed. Rare access points like Hells Kitchen Rd provide the few corridors through this complex network of canyons and ridges.
