The Little Lost River Valley forms the central corridor of this interior Idaho landscape, flanked by the rising slopes of the Lemhi Range. Much of the eastern terrain falls within the Challis National Forest, where the topography shifts from the flat valley floor to steep drainages like Bunting Canyon. The area is characterized by several distinct alluvial bars, including Badger Creek Bar, Deer Creek Bar, and Sunny Bar, which suggest historic terrace formations above the modern riverbed.
