The Little Lost River Valley forms the western boundary of this high-altitude landscape, where the Little Lost River Hwy follows the natural curve of the Little Lost River. To the east, the terrain rises sharply into the Lemhi Range, most of which is protected within the Challis National Forest. This 2020 survey records a transition from river-bottom bars to high mountain ridges, featuring the historical Badger Creek Mine tucked into the slopes near Bunting Canyon.
