Los Padres National Forest encompasses the majority of this landscape, where the high peaks of the Santa Lucia Range dominate the horizon. The interior drainage is defined by the winding San Antonio River, which is fed by numerous seasonal tributaries including Stony Cr, Pinalito Cr, and Forest Cr. These watercourses have carved a network of deep incisions into the terrain, such as Bear Canyon and the colorful China Gulch.
