Johnson Valley occupies the northern expanse of this High Desert landscape, where the flat valley floor meets the rising elevations of the Bighorn Mountains and San Bernardino Mountains. The transition from the arid Mojave Desert into the more complex topography of Bighorn Canyon is marked by a network of rural roads such as Joshua Tree Rd and Quailbush Rd.
