About this map

Crocker Mtn and South Crocker Mtn dominate the eastern landscape of this quadrangle, situated within the High Peaks region of Franklin County. The iconic Appalachian National Scenic Trail winds along these eastern ridges, providing a corridor through this high-elevation terrain. To the west, the namesake Black Nubble stands prominently, surrounded by the drainage networks of Nash Stream and the W Br Nash Stream. The topography is defined by the massive Redington Pond Range and Mt Redington in the southeast, while the northern edge is marked by the valley of Stratton Brook. Long-standing routes such as Rangeley Rd and Carrabassett Rd facilitate access through the lowlands, connecting the various stream valleys and mountain passes that have long shaped the transit and recreational character of this Maine backcountry.
