Cloverdale sits at a geographic crossroads in the southwestern corner of New Mexico, where the high desert meets the foothills of the Peloncillo Mountains and the Guadalupe Mountains. This cattle-ranching landscape is defined by its water sources, both natural and man-made, including Cloverdale Spring and the Black CCC Tank, the latter a remnant of New Deal-era conservation work in the Coronado National Forest.
