Summerlin South and Spring Valley represent the modern residential expansion at the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley. This 2015 record shows the transition from the arid reaches of the Mojave Desert into the planned grid of Clark County's suburban growth. The landscape is defined by a dense network of residential thoroughfares like W Flamingo Rd and W Tropicana Ave that terminate as they meet the rising elevation of the western hills. To the south, the settlement of Enterprise continues this pattern, while Blue Diamond remains a distinct outlier to the west. The drainage of Tropicana Wash and the prominent Exploration Peak provide the primary natural landmarks amidst the rapidly developing subdivisions and recreational features like Bears Best.
