Nash Stream Forest and the rugged northern reaches of Columbia dominate this terrain, where the headwaters of the Mohawk River and Nash Stream carve through the high country of Coos County. The landscape is defined by its prominent peaks and notches, including Blue Mountain, Gore Mountain, and the dramatic Cleveland Notch. Unlike the lower valleys, this area remains largely undeveloped, characterized by vast timberlands and high-elevation watersheds.

Evidence of early upland settlement is found at Cilley Hill and Carlton Hill, where a lone Cemetery remains near the Coos County line. The small settlement of Bungy sits on the eastern edge of the quadrangle, connected by limited 4wd tracks that penetrate the interior. These roads and trails follow the natural drainage patterns of Simms Stream and Whitcomb Brook, providing a detailed view of the region's complex hydrology and the protected forest boundaries of Stratford and Odell.
