Coyote Canyon and its complex network of forks dominate this 2018 survey of the desert landscape north of Borrego Springs. The terrain transitions from the high peaks of San Ysidro Mtn down through steep drainages like Cougar Canyon and Deering Canyon toward the valley floor. Deep in the backcountry, features such as Santa Catarina Spring and Collins Valley provide critical landmarks in a region defined by dramatic elevation changes.
