The Masterson Oil Field and Sun Valley Oil Field define the industrial footprint of this West Texas landscape. Located in Pecos County, the terrain is shaped by an extensive network of irrigation infrastructure designed to manage water in an arid environment. The Highline Canal and multiple branches of the Imperial Canal, including Imperial Canal Number Five and Imperial Canal Number Three, cross the region alongside natural drainages like Leon Creek and Comanche Creek. This irrigation system supported agricultural efforts in the trans-Pecos region, contrasting with the petroleum extraction activity at the southern edge of the survey area. In the northeast corner, a segment of the Pecos River is visible, marking a critical hydrological boundary. Transport through the area is facilitated by historical thoroughfares such as Old Girvin Rd and Old Crane Rd, which follow the diagonal paths of the terrain rather than a strict cardinal grid.
