Del Muerto Cr flows through the northern reaches of this Harding County landscape, where the high plains of northeastern New Mexico begin to drop away into the breaks of Bootleg Canyon. Surveyed in 2017, the map illustrates the expansive ranching country characterized by the Public Land Survey System grids of Township 20 North, Ranges 31 and 32 East. Human activity is defined by a sparse network of ranch roads and tracks, including Chappys Rd and Culbertson Rd. In the south, the terrain becomes increasingly complex as the mesa edge erodes into the canyon, with Lopez road marking the transition between the flat upland cattle country and the deeper drainages. The map provides a detailed view of the remote topographical relief and section lines that govern land ownership and use in this high-desert environment.
