The high plains above are marked by a critical network of livestock water sources, reflecting the ranching economy of the mid-1960s. Named wells such as Hemphill Well, Chaffee Well, and the East West Central Well are scattered across the township lines, alongside ephemeral water bodies like Laguna Tierra Amatosa and Bobby Lake. Settlement history is visible at Maytum, where the Maytum Cem is located, and at Cone (Ruins) near Cone Lake. In the southwest, Bootleg Canyon cuts into the mesa near the Whiteside Ranch, showing the transition from the flat grazing lands to the breaks of the Arroyo de la Cejita.
