1999 Map of Cape Solitude

USGS Topo · Published 2003

About this map

The confluence of the Colorado River and the Little Colorado River defines this landscape, where the deep waters of the Colorado Gorge meet the high eastern rim. Established as part of Grand Canyon National Park, the area includes the prominent Cape Solitude and the high cliffs of the Palisades of the Desert. To the east, the boundary of the Navajo Indian Reservation overlooks the river's path, marked by tumultuous white water at Sixtymile Rapids and Lava Canyon Rapids.
