Lake Superior surrounds a cluster of landforms in the Apostle Islands archipelago off the coast of northern Wisconsin. The primary focus of this modern survey is Cat Island, showing its characteristic elongated shape and shoreline detail. To the north, the smaller North Twin Island appears isolated in the open water, while the northern tip of Ironwood Island is visible at the bottom of the sheet. Unlike many coastal maps, this quadrangle is defined almost entirely by its maritime geography and island terrain, offering a clear view of these landmasses as they stood in the early twenty-first century.
