Zuñi River meanders across the southern portion of this high-desert landscape in Apache County, serving as the primary drainage for a network of ephemeral watercourses. This arid territory is defined by its dramatic relief and natural water management, featuring the Cedar Lake Reservoir in the western reaches. The drainage patterns are clearly visible through Hardscrabble Wash, which cuts a prominent path from north to south, and the namesake Cedar Lake Wash. This 2014 survey documents the remote terrain within the boundaries of various townships, including t15n r27e, where the interplay of seasonal washes and elevation contours reveals the hydraulic character of the Arizona plateau.
