Camas Prairie and a network of high-elevation meadows define this landscape in the northern Blue Mountains region. The terrain is characterized by a series of open flats and prairies, including Hayden Prairie, Miller Prairie, and Pool Prairie, which suggest a long history of seasonal grazing and water management. To the south, the boundary of the Umatilla National Forest marks a transition into more heavily timbered land near Porter Creek.
