San Juan National Forest encompasses much of this high-elevation landscape, where a dense network of forest roads and trails reveals the managed nature of the timber and ranching land. The terrain is defined by prominent elevations such as Chris Mtn, Mid Mtn, and the broad expanse of Brockover Mesa. These uplands are dissected by drainage features like Peterson Gulch and Dunnagan Canyon, which feed into the larger Devil Cr watershed.
