Coal Mine Mesa serves as a central feature in this section of Coconino County, characterized by the expansive arid reaches of the Moenkopi Plateau. The landscape is defined by its dramatic geologic formations, including the distinct Blue Point in the northwest and the carved depths of Ha Ho No Geh Canyon near the eastern margin. Human activity is largely structured by the network of local transport routes, such as Indian Rte 6032 and Indian Rte 6033, which connect the small settlement at Coal Mine Mesa with Howell Mesa to the east.
