Cochetopa Park occupies a broad high-altitude basin where the Gunnison National Forest meets the Rio Grande National Forest. This 2013 survey illustrates a landscape of complex drainage systems and water management, featuring the Upper Dome Reservoir, Lower Dome Reservoir, and agricultural infrastructure like the Perry Ditch and Mesa Ditch. The terrain is punctuated by the prominent Cochetopa Dome to the north and the Cochetopa Hills near the Continental Divide in the southeast.
