Cochetopa Park forms a high-elevation basin bounded by the dramatic rise of Cochetopa Dome to the northwest and the Cochetopa Hills to the southeast. This landscape is defined by its complex drainage systems, where Archuleta Cr, Monchego Cr, and Texas Cr converge within the park's open terrain. The high-country hydrologic network is further shaped by human engineering, visible in the Perry Ditch, Mesa Ditch, and Lower Dome Reservoir, which manage water across the divide.
