The Bleckley County Courthouse stands at the heart of Cochran, a regional center in Middle Georgia where education and transit converge. The Middle Georgia State College Cochran Campus occupies a significant portion of the town's southern edge, while the Cochran Airport lies to the east. The landscape is defined by a dense network of watercourses, including the winding Gum Swamp Creek and Shellstone Cr, which cut through the agricultural and wooded terrain. A legacy of local land ownership is preserved through numerous family-named roads and burial sites like Jones Cem and Barbour Cem. In the northwest, the terrain is marked by tributaries such as Bollinger Cr and Evergreen Cr, while Cedar Hill Cem remains a central landmark for genealogical interest near the town center.
