The Wassuk Range dominates this landscape, dropping sharply eastward toward the shoreline of Walker Lake. This 2021 survey documents the rugged eastern face of the mountains where features like Red Fox Gulch and Copper Canyon drain toward the basin. The shoreline itself is marked by Sportsmans Beach and Tamarack Point, with the settlement of Walker Lake clustered at the southern end near the mouth of Cottonwood Creek Canyon.
