Dana and the nearby Dana Cem occupy the northern reaches of this territory, where the volcanic topography of eastern Shasta County begins to descend toward the fertile Fall River valley. The landscape is defined by its water resources, with several perennial springs such as Thousand Springs and Rainbow Spring feeding into the Bear Cr and Spring Cr systems. This 2012 survey illustrates a region where forest management and rural habitation intersect, shown through the network of Forest Service roads surrounding Fort Mountain and Soldier Mountain. To the south, the Pit River and Jamo Point anchor the terrain, while local industry and recreation are represented by Ricks Fishing Lodge and several water storage sites, including Coyote Flat Reservoir and Warner Grade Reservoir. Further east, the small settlement of Gomez sits near the junction of McArthur Rd and Walker Rd, serving as a localized hub in an otherwise expansive timber and ranching landscape.
