The terrain is deeply incised by the drainage systems of Mosquito Creek and Moshanon Creek, creating the prominent river bend known as the Devils Elbow. Settlement is sparse, focused on the remote facility at Quehanna, which is supported by a Radio Range Station and a nearby Lookout Tower on the high ridges.
