Baskahegan Stream winds through a vast network of wetlands and upland ridges along the border of Penobscot and Washington counties. This interior Maine landscape is defined by its complex hydrography, where the Big Bog and numerous drainages like Pleasant Brook and Lindsey Brook feed into larger water bodies. The topography is marked by several prominent elevations, including Stetson Mtn in the north and the cluster of Dill Hill, Horse Hill, and Bowers Mtn to the south.
