Flathead National Forest defines this high-elevation landscape in the Swan Range, where the steep topography drops sharply toward the eastern edge of the Flathead Valley. The terrain is marked by a series of prominent peaks, including Columbia Mtn, Doris Mtn, and Blaine Mtn, connected by a network of forest development roads and specialized trails like the Columbia Mtn Loop. To the east, the South Fork Flathead River flows into the Hungry Horse Reservoir, a massive water body that reshaped the local drainage patterns. High alpine basins such as Otila Basin and small mountain waters like Jenny Lake and Doris Lakes are distributed across the ridges, providing a detailed view of the drainage network that feeds into the reservoir system via Doris Creek and Silver Run Cr.
