The arrival of U S Highway No 2 reflects the early expansion of regional travel infrastructure along the Upper Peninsula's southern coast, cutting a straight path through the low-lying terrain. To the east, the basin of Little Brevoort Lake sits tucked behind the shoreline, surrounded by wetlands and small creeks like Paquin Cr.
