Fenner Hills and the surrounding high desert terrain dominate this mid-1980s topographic survey of eastern San Bernardino County. Part of the broader East Mojave National Scenic Area, the landscape is defined by massive drainage systems like Watson Wash and Woods Wash which cut through the Fenner Valley. To the north, the elevation rises sharply toward the slopes of Hackberry Mountain.

Human infrastructure in this arid environment is limited to utility corridors and a few essential resources. A Steel Tower Transmission Line and an Underground Gas Pipeline span the valley floor, marking the modern transit of energy across the desert. Local water management is represented by a isolated Water Tank, while access is restricted to sparse 4wd tracks that follow the natural contours of the desert floor between the prominent volcanic outcrops.
