The Sacramento River meanders through this agricultural corridor at the borders of Tehama, Glenn, and Butte Counties. The river's complex hydrology is evident in the numerous islands and named bends that segment the channel, including Foster Island, McIntosh Island, and Emery and Mitchell Island. These landforms, along with Hoaglum Chute and Missouri Bend, illustrate the shifting nature of the river before it reaches the confluence with Stony Cr at the southern edge of the quadrangle.

Irrigation infrastructure is a dominant feature of the landscape, most notably the Glenn-Colusa Canal which cuts across the western flats. A dense grid of rural roads, such as Walch Ave and Cutler Ave, organizes the orchards and fields of the Central Valley. Smaller waterways like Burch Cr and Sour Grass Cr feed into the river system, while Soto Lake sits to the northeast, marking the varied aquatic environments of this riverine territory.
