Fowler Coulee and its neighboring drainage systems define the high plains landscape of Pondera and Toole Counties in this 2017 study. The map shows a strictly organized section of Montana's agricultural interior, where the natural, winding paths of Bird Coulee and Favot Coulee contrast with the rigid north-south and east-west grid of rural section roads. This intersection of natural hydrology and human surveying is evident in the path of Sollid Rd as it cuts across Wilckox Coulee and Freebury Coulee.
