Grave Creek and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad wind through the northern portion of this Marshall County landscape, passing the notable landmark of Rosbys Rock. This 1960 survey illustrates a deeply dissected plateau where ridge-top farming and narrow hollows dictate the pattern of settlement. Tight meanders of Fish Creek dominate the southern half of the sheet, carving around Sallys Ridge and Backbone Ridge near the small communities of Meighen and Adaline.

Rural infrastructure is well-defined, showing a network of pipelines and numerous oil and gas wells scattered across high ground like Mt Zion Ridge. Evidence of early local education and faith are preserved in sites such as the Lower Bane Sch & Cem and New Bethel Cem & Ch. The transition from industrial rail corridors to isolated agricultural ridges like Shoestring Ridge and Fallen Timber Ridge reflects the traditional Appalachian economy of the mid-20th century.
