Grand Lake Stream serves as the focal point for this wilderness-rich portion of Washington County, Maine. The landscape is defined by its complex glacial hydrology, where the massive waters of West Grand Lake funnel into the namesake stream. Numerous coves such as Kitchen Cove and Farm Cove create a serrated shoreline dotted with landmarks like Kole Kill Island and Munson Island. To the south, the terrain rises toward Wabassus Mtn and Little River Mtn, overlooking Wabassus Lake and smaller bodies of water like Little River Lake. This network of waterways is linked by several significant falls, including Big Falls and Little Falls, which historically dictated the movement of timber and travelers through the region. Modern access is traced via woodland corridors like Bonney Brook Rd and Wabassus Rd, while the settlement at Dawn Marie Beach provides a localized point of interest along the western lakefront.
